Hormonal girls
18 Answers
when do girls go through those teenage years ? I cant remember how young they start. My daughter is almost 10 and getting very lippy - answering me back alot and arguing about things, she will walk off on me when shopping too - like walk her own way, not follow me. But most of the time she is fine. Is this the start of hormonal problems - or not?

Choose your battles carefully, don't sweat the little things, be firm and mean what you say. I only needed to count to five before daughter fell into line, mind you I never ever reached 5 - not sure what I would have done if I had, but she "knew" the "axe" would fall if I reached it. She's an adult now and she still talks about the 5 count so it must have worked! Oh and when it comes to clothes and she wants something really unsuitable, of which you don't approve remember who is actually paying for them - you have final the final say - for the time being
How so Duncer? Daughter turned out alright in the end, was "hairy" for a bit but she's now quite civilised - she even posts on here calls herself "queenofmean" though in truth she's anything but.
Kassee, don't worry too much, there is a light at the end of the tunnel which isn't an oncoming express - just puberty, and it does end (eventually). Maintain a sense of humour, be firm don't stand any nonsense and in the word of those ubiquitous posters "Keep calm and carry on!"

Just noticed your question Duncer. She's your daughter only if you have a tattoo of a pink dragon on your left b*m cheek!
Kassee, my daughter is 24 and she still takes my hand crossing a road - I feel daft and so does she but it's a habit she's never broken. She will turn human again maybe sometime in the next 10 or 11 years. Sorry.

I think it's different for mothers of daughters. Ours is 24 now and still gets into furious arguments with her mother sometimes, and over very little, just as she did as a teenager, but with me that has long passed. Mind, as the bystander, I have long noticed that both of them have a talent for saying the things to the other, 'hit the right buttons', that are certain to start a row or make a minor matter into one.
