very heavy smoker and it stinks of cigarette smoke
I bought a new to me oven from a friend's mum. The whole family are heavy smokers but a sit had been sitting in the garage I didn't give it a 2 nd thought with regard to something made of a metal smelling like an old ash tray.
The oven is lovely, really worth the money I paid

Is there anything I can clean it with to get rid of the smell?
It's on the inside of the oven as well as the outside - so far I've tried Flash but it didn't work

TIA - I'm off to work in a mo and hopefully someone will have an answer for me when I return

For the insider, is it a peeled onion or a lemon which absorbs smells?
For the outside, cillit bang (or similar product) ?
Try baking soda...it's known to elliminate odours. Vinegar may also work.
I agree with albaqwerty. Rubbing with a lemon may work for the outside too.
I crossed posts with pastafreak. I prefer lemon to vinegar but I know vinegar is supposed to work. Another idea is to put some bread in pans of boiling water and put them inside the oven- the bread is supposed to soak up some of whatever causes the smell.
Oven stinks of cigarette smoke? Really?
It's down to all those tobacco pies they used to bake.
Sure the smell isn't something else ? Whatever it is, best of luck shifting it.
Gotta admit, I do find it hard to believe that an oven, sat in an garage for gawd knows how long, smells of cig smoke on the inside of it!
Slice up a lemon , place in a cooking bowl full of water and leave it to sizzle in the oven all day.
Once you start doing your own thing the smell will become that of you and yours.
Friends of ours who used to foster had a similar experience with new kids - they reckoned on a couple of good meals, a few baths and clothes changes and a few good dumps and then the kids were indistinguishable.
Everyone and every home has its own smell - it's just a big sickening when its ingrained fag-ash.
Isn't it amazing the detrimental effect smokers can have on the lives of others?

Ducks and legs it!

And yes, ummm, it seriously smells very strongly of fag smoke, inside and out. The inside smells dreadful
And people wonder why I. among many others, complain about smoking being stinking!

and, as a PS - the garage is the smoking area for the household
Something I found was excellent was Limelite spray but I must admit it had never tried it before but did so out of desparation. It worked. Flash with fabreze did not work for long neither did fabreze spray. I used the cheap Microfibre cloths from the 99p shop for cleaning cars.
as a non-smoker, i can perfectly understand how things smell (reek) when you are not used to the smell
I can believe this. My relatives (heavy smokers) brought me a gift back from their holidays (a night shirt).

It was obviously packed in a case with their own clothes, and despite washing it several times and rinsing it in lovely-smelling fabric conditioner, the smell of the smoke just won't come out.

Cigarette smoke has a very pungent smell. Smokers get used to the smell and probably don't notice it, but it permeates through fabrics and is very hard to shift.

Now if I were a smoker reading this, I'd think the writer was over-reacting or one of the anti-smoking brigade. I'm neither.

thanks windy and bednobs

I was as surprised as anyone to find it smelling like this
It's a lovely cooker and for £150 I am so much more than pleased with it. It's less than a year old as well
It may well need another clean after the one it has just had but it is smelling much sweeter right now thanks to a combination of lemons, soda crystals and bicarb :)
