wedding photos

I got married at the beginning of september and finally received the wedding photo proofs on friday, looking through the proofs the photos that the photographer has taken are very unimaginative, show no artistic flair and look very amateurish, they are certainly not what we were expecting having seen her "portfolio" and sample albums and also paying £800 for the photography package!
We paid the photographer up front which we were told was pretty normal but we have been left feeling like we haven't got value for money and the photos certainly aren't worth the £800!
Is there any sort of recourse which we can take against the photographer?

He seemed more interested in taking pictures of all the very pretty girls who were there than bride and groom! One thing that was heart beaking is that my sister died not long after and the only pic he'd taken of her he cut her in half!
I complained to him and threatened him with Trading Standards. The original cost was to be £700 and in the end he charged £200. Still a blooming rip off but better than now't.

''We paid the photographer up front''
Would you pay for anything, especially something extremely important to you as this 'up front'? The seller (in your case the photographer) has less incentive to do a proper job.
If your photographs are substantially different in terms of composition/quality from the sample albums/portfolio you saw then I would expect it fair to ask (demand) some sort of discount.

Nothing in her T&C's, she was very rude to guests at the wedding and gave the impression she couldn't be bothered but we put this down to our guests disappearing when it was their turn to have a photo taken, although as my husband says she should be used to that, also on top of that she has been very rude to us and obtrusive when we have contacted her since the wedding!
we got married at an amazing and beutiful country hotel in south west scotland with amazing scenery and gardens and the majority of the photos are at the hotel front door (including the cigarette butt bin)!
The main photo with all of the inlaws and immediate family has the best man standing with his hands in his pockets yawning and then the same line up with the best man leaning against the wall!
My oh thinks we should just tell her we aren't happy and they aren't worth the money we paid and theaten to go to the local paper( she's been a photographer for years but has just started up a wedding events branch of the business) so she probably wont want the bad press! Anyway i dont think she will budge so could we take her to a small claims court over this?

I call my dog "Photographer" because he keeps snapping people!
You should have had me as your wedding photographer. I did this at my sister's wedding last year and was told the results were very good. I would not have charged you £800 either; I would have done it for free out of the kindness of my heart.
