It's my daughter's 12th birthday in a couple of weeks and she'll be having about 9 friends round to celebrate, what sort of activities can I lay on for them (that don't cost too much money, she's already getting a laptop so the birthdy budge is stretched to death), they'll have the Wii and music, what else do you think I could do?

A "pamper area" where they can paint their nails, do some make-up and do their hair?
A pamper party?

Get out the make up and beauty products, whack up the music and retreat to the kitchen with booze.
GMTA V&C ;-)

Thanks to both of you, sounds excellent, especially the retreat with booze.

Lol, pumbah, I think she'd go mad if I suggested that.
Girly DVD and popcorn, nibbles. Hair/make-up and then take pics of them all glammed up. Dancing with the Wii. karaoke.
Make cup cakes and let them decorate them and then eat them or take them home.
Musical chairs ? lol
Keep an eye on the wine rack.
Sit them down and tell them .It was not like this in my day .An orange at christmas ,Sweets when granny got her pension or sold a bullock at market . Long walk in the evening to keep us warm and tire us out so as we would go to bed with out eating the last round of bread that was for daddys lunch .Wi stood for Womans Institute who knitted us garments to keep us warm .Lap top was where the dog lay on granny to keep he warm .That will give them summit to think about .

Lol owd, that really made me laugh :)

I like the cupcakes idea, tenrec, and the photos, smow. So Wii, dancing, nibbles, cupcake decorating and makeovers, will that cover it?

Tony, after a few wines I'd end up doing musical chairs with them, I'm very competitive, it wouldn't end well ;)

Weecalf, lol, I can see their eyes rolling already!

Thanks all.

So long as her nine friends are all girls! 12 year old boys would be distinctly unimpressed with that, I think...
Mocktails? My neice and her friends went crazy over mocktails on her 12th b.day.
Question Author
Yes Mark, they're all girls.

Hmmm, I like that idea Evi, how do you go about that? I can see the budget expanding!
Juice and food colouring with plastic martini glasses (think we go some cheap from Wilko) and those little umbrella things.
Question Author
Excellent, thank you :)
Mocktails - lovely idea! Non-alcoholic Pimms: fizzy lemonade with a little bit of balsamic vinegar (sounds weird, but it really does taste like Pimms) then chuck in sprigs of mint, cucumber, strawberries, etc. Looks classy, but is so easy.
Question Author
Thanks kiki, I'm off to ebay to buy plastic cocktail glasses!
