not really a craving, but i suddenly went off chocolate and onto fruit - one of the reasons i ended up weighing less at the end of all my pregnancies than at the beginning.
I also had a craving one day for rare roast beef
Blimey,Prudie, I must be pregnant. I ate a whole 340gm jar of pickled red cabbage, straight from the jar, last night !
Several women of my mother's generation, including my aunt, reported a craving for coal. Don't hear so much of that now; people don't have coal so much, so it wouldn't be so easy to satisfy.
With my first it was fresh squeezes orange juice for breakfast, large chocolate milkshake for lunch and for dinner a huge plate of mashed potato.
With second it was lettuce with oil and vi gear dressing for lunch and 2/3 glass of coca cola. And it had to be 2/3 not full or half a glass and someone else had to pour it for me. So my poor houseboy had to learn quick where the mark on the glass was. I'm surprised I wasn't murdered I was a real cow.
Then with number three I would eat the sand that the termites leave on the trees .
These cravings only lasted the first trimester after that I was back to normal.
With my first child I craved - chalk!! And chocolate fingers in mayo!
2nd I just wanted - ice cream! Stupid amounts!! Also beet root covered in salad cream!!!
3rd I wanted ice! Again stupid amounts of it! My fella ended up buying an ice making machine to keep up with the demand! X
not really a craving but always really fancied icing - my mate used to take a wander up to Greggs for me at lunchtime if i was fancying an iced bun. i did also eat loads and loads of fruit - but not sure if that was a craving as much as feeling the need to make sure i had lots of it.
In 1970 when my wife was expecting our first she woke me up at 2am and informed me that she wanted jelly babies. I walked 4 miles to the only all night garage in the area at the time and came back with a carrier bag full just in case.
Strawberries - really hard when out of season. When I was 8 months pregnant we went into a cafe and they didn't have any - but when I said I had a craving for them the assistant said they had some frozen ones and defrosted some for me - the taste was ecstasy! I hardly ever eat them now though!
