Free/cheap Days Out
12 Answers
I'm looking for ideas for cheap days out during the summer holidays.
We often go on picnics, go to museums and the beach, but with 6 weeks to fill I need some more ideas.
I've got some clubcard points (£100 worth!) which I've exchanged for days out vouchers, and I've got two tokens from Capri Sun boxes to use for a couple of days out too. We're also National Trust members, so that will keep us busy over the weekends.
Does anyone know of any other good offers currently available? I currently cannot drive, so they have to be places we can get to by train/coach easily.
Thanks very much :-)

Check to see if there are any offers on train travel in your area. There used to be tickets that gave seven days travel in a given area, though they may not be available any more.

I wouldn't waste your clubcard points on tickets for going out, they reviewed it recently ( watchdog or something similair) and there were always cheaper tickets available for theme parks on the net, in tourist information centres etc.
Using tesco points was the dearest option, better used to buy the food for the day out.
Local papers are good,
Usually goog info in the local libraries, and events for the kids there aswell.
Also the good old tourist information have leaflets, and usually vouchers attatched to them.

What about any free activities with your local council?. Look on their website they often have activity days for free. Some sports centres have freebies for activities in the summer. Are there any beaches near you, try crab fishing it doesnt cost much to get a little crabline or net, It would be helpful if i knew how old your child/children are.
