Thanks to all of you who posted Birthday greetings yesterday - it's much appreciated.

By a stroke of plumbing genius known as luck, I think, I solved the water issue and the Aga. I drew off two to three bath-loads of hot tap water and I think it pulled through whatever blockage or air-lock was there as I could feel the connecting copper pipe between the Aga and the immersion heater warming. After a wee trip for a birthday lunch in a lovely country pub on the Roseland peninsula and then on to St Mawes for a "shufty" around, I came back to a warm, snuggly tank under its jacket - and have luxuriated in hot water since and this morning!

So thanks again for your greetings and it wasn't a bad day, the only downer that the big fat steak for the bbq has had to wait as we were hit with a huge storm as I came to light the pit. Still opened the wine though!

Good stuff ! Xx
Sorry I missed that DT, many happy returns for yesterday. Funnily enough we had a plumber in all day yesterday fitting a new immersion because ours had sprung a sneaky leak at the bottom and we didn't know until a huge brown wet patch appeared on the kitchen ceiling, what a messy pain. Anyway glad you had a fun day.
Your Aga saga was better than a Joanna Trollope, dt.

Wait to you see the 1000 words on the inside of a table tennis ball essay, or the one on the uses of marmalade in a nuclear war, tilly. Did you ever get essays like that at school? They warp the mind!

Prudie - went through that one last year and, yes, it is a nice mess. A rotten radiator adding to the problem. And then there was the blocked flue a couple of months ago - unbelievable what was in there and, guess what, the 50 year old Aga now purrs like ASBO and its oil consumption must have halved as it can work efficiently.
DT, did the table tennis ball one but not the marmalade. Marmalade equals Paddington.
You know you're a real country person when you know how to mend your own Aga :)
Glad you had a great day xx
Big fat steak today, then. Enjoy! xx
