Family Trees On Tablets

Hello

I have recently purchased a Lenovo Yoga 10 inch tablet. It is the first tablet I have used and am finding it very confusing, but am persevering. One of the main reasons for purchasing it was I would be able to put my family tree on it so I could consult it while on the move. I have since found out that I cannot add my family tree onto my tablet. Does anyone here know if it would be possible to put my family tree onto my tablet and be able to open/use it without having to use the internet? My main family tree is not on the internet and uses family tree maker 2005.

Thank you for any help or ideas in advance.

I'm no expert on tablets. (I've only owned one for a few weeks myself). However I would think that the first step would to be to export your family tree from Family Tree Maker to a file that can be recognised by other genealogy software. So follow the the 'GEDCOM 5.5' instructions here:
http://ftm.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/4376/~/exporting-a-file-in-family-tree-maker

To get the file onto your tablet you'll either need to save it to a pen drive (and then connect that pen drive to the tablet) or email it to yourself and access your email from the tablet.

Then you'll need a genealogy app on your tablet that can open that file. One of these should do the trick
https://play.google.com/store/search?q=genealogy&c=apps
but I'll leave it to you to plough through the descriptions to find a suitable app.

OK, it's not a complete answer but I hope that it points you in the right direction.
I have two apps for my android phone that are family tree applications. Not that I have yet to use either yet. So I would be surprised if you could not do so on your tablet. Try the places Lenovo's operating system gives access to, to look for something suitable.
I use the ancestry.co.uk web site and I have also down loaded the app to my ipad. Buenchico advice as always is also spot on.

Thank you for pointing me in the right direction Buenchico. I am about to start ploughing through the discriptions of apps now, hopefully i will find the one for me.

Sycamore, I have looked into the Ancestry app and am unsure about it, it seems to either work or not from the reviews, I have an Ancestry account so could access my reduced tree on there but would ideally like to be able to access my tree without internet in case I am not near a WiFi connection.
Do you not have an internet app on your Lenovo ? Why not just surf there ?
I use an ipad2 so I use the app but I also use the site via the web. On the ipad I could access my family tree via the net using the reading list when I do not have connection but I would not be able to make changes to it. Not sure what device you have but someone else may know.
