How do all? it's been a couple of weeks since I showed my face so I thought I'd pop my head through the AB door and say hello.

I read a poem yesterday regarding drugs and I thought I'd share it - very touching indeed.

Hello, My name is DRUGS – I destroy homes, tear families apart, take your children, and that’s just the start.
I’m more costly than diamonds, more costly than gold, the sorrow I bring is a sight to behold.
And if u need me, remember I’m easily found, I live all around you, in schools and in town.
I live with the rich, I live with the poor, I live down the street, and maybe next door.
My power is awesome; try me you’ll see, but if you do, you may NEVER break free.
Just try me once and I might let you go, but try me twice, and I’ll own your soul.
When I possess you, you’ll steal, cheat, and lie. You do what you have to just to get high.
The crimes you’ll commit, for my narcotic charms will be worth the pleasure you’ll feel in your arms.
You’ll lie to your mother; you’ll steal from your dad When you see their tears, you should feel bad.
But you’ll forget your morals and how you were raised, I’ll be your conscience, I’ll teach you my ways.
I take kids from parents, and parents from kids, I turn people from god, and separate friends.
I’ll take everything from you, your looks and your pride, I’ll be with you always, right by your side.
You’ll give up everything… your family, your home… your friends, your money, then you’ll be alone.
I’ll take and take, till you have nothing more to give. When I’m finished with you you’ll be lucky to live.
If you try me be warned this is no game. If given the chance, I’ll drive you insane.
I’ll ravish your body; I’ll control your mind. I’ll own you completely; your soul will be mine.
The nightmares I’ll give you while lying in bed, the voices you’ll hear from inside your head,
the sweats, the shakes, the visions you’ll see; I want you to know, these are all gifts from me,
But then it’s too late, and you’ll know in your heart, that you are mine, and we shall not part.
You’ll regret that you tried me, they always do, but you came to me, not I to you.
You knew this would happen. Many times you were told, but you challenged my power, and chose to be bold.
You could have said no, and just walked away, If you could live that day over, now what would you say?
I’ll be your master; you will be my slave, I’ll even go with you, when you go to your grave.
Now that you have met me, what will you do? Will you try me or not? Its all up to you.
I can bring you more misery than words can tell. Come take my hand, I’ll take you to HELL!

Let me know what you think, I think it's a very powerful but true message written in a poem.

Dizmo, so pleased to see your post. Sorry to hear that your health problems continue xx
Truthfully?

Too emo-ish for me.

But if helps some, then it's all good.

Janbee: I had to take a break whilst trying to get used to new medication. Not only that but I wasn't particularly nice to around so coming on here and annoying you lot would of probably got me banned!

The hospital messed up again but my mum is now in the ring fighting my corner and getting somewhere! I also managed to get an appointment from the doctors for this Friday and meanwhile they have issued me pain relief.

Sleeping patterns are all over the place and I'm not eating very often but I'm more or less pain free and I've managed to keep away from the hospital.

Borneholm is undergoing a major revamp and will be opening an online shop where all the proceeds go to the rescue. A BDRR app for Android and Iphone will be released this year also. So it's full speed ahead!
Diz...nice to see you posting..chin up xx :0)

Thanks for letting me know update re yourself and Borneholme. I'll look out for the website.
I'm fine Thank you - youngest Grandson was 4 last Friday so I was full of Chicken nuggets/pizza and jelly at the end of the day !!

I think the hyperactivity has worn off now.
found this quite emotional and SO true ,i know from having a son who took the wrong path how painful drug taking is .it breaks your heart to see the decline of a loved one .thankfully he has now seen sense and is doing really well .

I'd also like to thank SlinkyKate for her cheque. I've not been to the bank yet but I had to laugh, you've written Boneholme lol. We never made the connection but it makes sense.

Thank you for the picture of Cody, he looks so happy :)
As a part of the App we want to be able to show supporters the animals that other supporters have, in this case - Cody. Before anything is done, permission will be sought anyhoo.

If I'm not about could someone point SlinkyKate in the direction of this thread - cheers.

mallyh: There is a very touching book (I can't for the life of me remember the title) which tells of the story of a mother dealing with her son on drugs. There is no happy ending to the book though. She finds her son dead of an overdose.

I gave it my mum to read and she wanted a happy ending - sadly not.

I'm glad to hear that your son is doing ok for himself now :)
Dismo he hit rock bottom before he realised there was a better life waiting ,he didn't have a thing left ,sold everything he could, then he got caught shop lifting and when he went to court said he needed to be put away that was the turning point he came out clean .every day is still a trial though but he's doing it .is drugs your problem too ?
Question Author
mallyh: No, alcohol used to be my problem until I was forced to stop due to my physical illness. I used to use it as a crutch and to ignore my mental illness. I've never been interested, or taken drugs (illegal ones) apart from alcohol. Apart from being a college I never really grew up around drugs. At college I used to have to roll spliffs etc to keep my friends - a small group I had. They didn't last long though because of their stupidity whilst high as a kite.
i hope things improve for you and your mum take care x

Welcome back Diz, Happy New Year, Glad to hear things are a little easier for you atm.
Question Author
mallyh: Cheers, my mum is good at the moment. She's enjoying her new job so all seems to be good on that front.

Baldric: Cheers mate, the same to you too! How were the dogs over the new years with the fireworks?
