hi, not sure what to do - am going round in circles. My MIL has moved to a care home, and we need to cancel her talk talk account for the old house. She has memory problems and can't remember the email address associated with the account (she's had several since the service started)
They won't let us cancel it without a power of attorney (which we don't have, and now probably couldn't get) In any case, if we could get a POA it would take weeks and weeks - all the time she would still be paying for a service she is not able to receive.

What the hell can we do? she isn't able to call them herself and even if she could, she also doesn't know any of the information they need

Send them a letter from the care home stating that she is indeed a resident?
can you cancel the direct debit with the bank?
Question Author
yes, i could cancel the DD. However, they will still be providing a service that they will be billing her for, and she'll be racking up debts
if she is no longer living at the house then they are not providing a service, if nothing else at least they will stop the service once they stop taking the payments

talk talk - a terrible organisation
Don't get me started on Talktalk this morning I need to focus all my energy and British Airways and their lack of ability to reply to emails. Talktalk are only interested in selling you stuff, they don;t have any customer care agenda in place and their staff read from a script or have learnt to lip read from their 'line manager' hovering over them coaxing them into repeating the stock phrases.
