Anyone Awake To Chat To Worried Mummy/nanny??

Im visiting my daughter who has an 18 month old girl and is 5 months pregnant again (unplanned). I've got here lunchtime and daughters stress levels are off the scale. Child has suddenly turned from loving to having the most awful tantrums, which I witnessed today. Literally one minute playing then screaming, slapping her own face, scratching herself, smacking her head on the floor. .couldnt quite believe it.daughter has short fuse anyway and I kept trying to get her to ignore it but she wouldn't. Was shouting at her to stop in frustration. I then bathed child later and sW a huge red handprint on her bottom. Daughter admitted shed slapped her and then said she'd also slapped her round the face last week. My daughter does suffer from depression but I'm really really worried now. She's already said she isn't going to cope when the baby arrives.

She has always suffered from depression n varying degrees and mood swings. They sent the mental health nurse to see her today and she is going to keep a close eye on her and prescribe correct medication as soon as baby is born but they say there is nothing they can give her whilst she is still pregnant. Hence why I'm about to post on here in other section as to whether there is anything at all she can take to help
I have got an....acquaintance....with ongoing mental health issues. She stayed on her meds throughout her pregnancy, they only thing she couldn’t do was breastfeed. I know this is tenuous but I think its worth speaking again to CMH team. I don’t know what meds she took and sadly don’t know her well enough to ask.
I was meaning to post on this earlier. This situation mirrors my daughter's exactly. I don't like to ask but are you CERTAIN your daughter is not on marijuana 'weed'. My daughter is and it causes the exact symptoms you describe, short (very short) temper with the children, screaming at them in rage and hitting them. Her bad temper works off on the children who play up even more and start a viscous circle.
My daughter has been on 'weed' since she was 14 , she is 30 now! and it is getting worse. The modern 'skunk weed' is over 30 times as strong as the old stuff most of us tried in the 70 s and the effects are totally different. Instead of calming you down and 'chilling you out' it has the opposite effect and causes short temper, rage and anxiety in many people.
I hope I am wrong but as soon as I read your post it was striking how similar the situation was.
