Have recently come across a letter written 70 years ago by a relative I've never met. The address on it's Station Houses, Ynyddu (in South Wales). Can't find any reference to Station Houses when I Google, so I guess the street's been renamed or demolished. Anyone know?
Try ringing the local public library, or PL in the nearest big town, where you may find a librarian specialising in local history. They will also have maps, and copies of Kelly's Directory.
YNYSDDU is a hamlet of this parish, having a station on the Sirhowy section, London and North Western railway, 10¼ miles north-west from Newport.
Could Station House have been the Station masters address?
Station Houses doesn't sound like a street. Sounds like a group of terraces built at the same time in a street (or alleyway). Maybe they were so well known they didn't bother naming the street in question?
