Most of the summer I've walked just over a mile a day 5 days a week - out in the countryside with my ipod.
I don't walk fast but in the last year I've taken more than three million steps.

Well done, both of you. :-)

Walk the Dogs at least twice a day, normally for at least an hour both times, and usually at a reasonably brisk pace.

Having a dog or dogs does mean you have to get off your bottom at least once a day!
Heard about this on the radio earlier in the week. There is a free app you can download called 'Active10' that measures your steps and speed of walking. Taken it into work the last 2 days; don't know how accurate it is yet but apparently I walk 9 to 10 miles in an 8 hour shift. More than I thought.

Anyone been persuaded to do more walking than the would normally do?

That's a lot of walking, Captain. Good for you!
I've downloaded this App. I can only see time I've walked not miles. Where is that please?
I do some brisk walking with the dog at weekends.
During the week at work I walk briskly to the tea urn and back several time and then several brisk walks to the gents.
I aim for my 10,000 steps a day...today I did 16,000+ according to my fitbit. That's 7.28 miles with my stride. I hate walking slowly...thats the New Yorker in me ;-)
I meet up with some fellow dog walkers every evening...all younger than me...and slow. Sally is getting slower in the heat, so I try to do brisk walks without her.
Tony's DVD....Get Fit With a Tea Urn....will be available shortly...... :-)
Can't do brisk walking (back condition) but I do about 2 miles steady every morning (includes a hill) with dog and OH. OH takes dog about a mile whilst I make dinner in the evening. I also now swim twice a week. We've always walked.
gness Tony's DVD....Get Fit With a Tea Urn

Eh madam, I'll gave you know that Urn is my best mate at work.
gness, it'll be the number one dvd at chrimbo time.

What about those who can't walk? or those who can't walk 'briskly'?
Are they consigned to an early exit off this mortal coil?
What about those who can't walk? or those who can't walk 'briskly'?

Now theres a thought, ah wench.
it's being so cheerful that keeps me going our kid :-D

twas just a thought.

No-one needs to know why I walk briskly up the stairs to the little room :)))
You wait till you're my age, Albs.....and you've forgotton why you walked briskly upstairs...... :-(
( Wooden ) hill climbing at a brisk pace is good for you, so I hear ah wench.
gness xx

what gets me is I seem not to remember whether I'm going up or coming down. (forgot my age when I was having a hissy fit with Mr Alba, must admit, I thought that was a blooming hoot!)
