Dear Quizzers
Thank you to everyone who continues to support my quizzes, and welcome to newcomers. This time you have raised £131.00 for St Andrew’s Church, Epworth, North Lincs.
Thank you for your many kind comments and your generous donations. Many of you anticipate that there will be a ‘next quiz’ so ‘A Christmas Quiz’ will be ready for 1st October and I will circulate it to you.
There were 16 all correct entries and the winners drawn at random from that group are
Ronnie Hill in Donegal, R of Ireland, and Mrs M Westwood in Oldbury, Birmingham
The 3rd prize drawn from 82 returned entries is Mrs Helen Cook, in Marske, Cleveland
Q 43 was one which many of you obviously spent time researching – however I was not specific as to the year of the Tour De France and the START is the same every year, even when in Yorkshire – Le Grand Depart
Spelling mistakes incurred a ½ point deduction
The instructions stated that there were 25 ARMS and 25 LEGS so if you did not contravene this, in certain circumstances, I could allow different answers**.
Variations occurred with Q 46 where I was expecting Parmesan. However, as above**, I could accept Tallegio.
Similarly the answer to Q 40 was Aquilegia but I accepted Star Magnolia which is also a spring flower and does closely fit the rubric.
