Dil Wants To Choose Decor
40 Answers
Just wondered what you good folks of AB think about this.
We will have to redecorate two bedrooms in our house because of damage by damp. One room is my son’s; he is in his late 20s and has had his own home for six years. He wouldn’t care how I decorated it, but he said his wife ‘wants some input’ in the decisions. I thought ‘Cheeky mare! It’s not her house.’ Or even her room. But I don’t want to fall out with my son.
What do you think? Should I consult her, or do what I damn well like with my own home?

I've been decorating for about the last 30 years and i've done an awful lot for our Asian cousins. I have a feeling many of them are being financially helped by their fathers who, in many cases, try to have an input suggesting traditional Asian style patterns. Most of my customers are young couples making a home for the first time and, on the whole, they resist their parent's ideas.
