I'm trying to prove to my older brother that the tag on the bathmat is supposed to be on the underside out of view. He believes that I'm wrong and flips the bathmat over every time he goes into the restroom. Then I do the same. It's a real pain in the neck. It's like the tag on a fitted sheet, the tag should be on the underside.

it's bath mat you step in it , if it's sides don't affect its function don't bother if it has a coated or rubberized side they face down.
If it is a designer item the label goes face up, if it's just the washing instructions face down.

One needs to avoid getting obsessed with the irrelevant. It makes life less wonderful if you react to everything others do wrong.

Why not sew another label on the other side as a compromise ?

If it is a designer item then best cut off the label before visitors start making fun and gossiping behind your back.
