Avast Little Protection ?

Avast has informed me of their thanks that they have renewed my membership by debit for protection and we are all happy. A couple of days later an announcement pops up telling me to watch out for various, “baddies”, and to upgrade and give them more cash. Now I’m no IT expert by any means, also I know of the phrase, “you only get what you pay for”, but when I joined Avast all those years ago, I thought that was what I was buying - Protection ! This of course makes me think I shall leave there umbrella when it comes up for renewal next year but probably it will slip through again.
Unfortunately they appear to be one of those remote uncontactable companies but I think they should forget to tell you what they will do and tell you what they will not do! Wish I was smarter, anybody out there suggest anything, apart from me to stop moaning?

You don't need the 'bells and whistles' that Avast's full security suite (or, indeed, any other security suite) offers anyway. Just use the free version, which is what millons of others (including myself) do.
