Can Anyone Advise On Winter Fuel

payments, as i had an argument of sorts with a friend who said that you
can get winter fuel allowance if you are on pension credits. I will qualify for PC when i turn 66 end of the year, and don't believe you get the winter fuel allowance until you turn 75??
anyone know.

Rubbish. You get it when you qualify for your pension. You won't get it this year though, as you have to qualify by a certain date in September, but you will get it next year.

look here emmie it is very simple either pension or one of the benefits listed..but your birth date still applies

Don't think so, I can't remember. When it first came out you got it when you were 60, regardless of pension. I know I was getting mine long before I was 65.

Exactly as Jackdaw says. I started getting my winter fuel allowance when I was 60 as I was one of the fortunate few who got their DWP pension at 60 before they moved the goalposts.

As I have said, you don't qualify for it this year as you were born too late but you will get it automatically from next year onwards.

Good luck emmie you should get it. Maybe your thinking of free TV license which was 75. You should get a buss pass to.
FAO didlydo, you were lucky to get yours at 60 as 67 is the age for me am told if a last that long. Infact a never understood the logic of it been 60 for women and 65 men and why Labour and Tory goverments never seen it was discriminatary- pay for less years but get it for alot longer One of lifes mystries.

Bobbinwales - there were all sorts of anomalies - OH and I both born in 1949. I got the entire fuel allowance when I was 60 (I think it was £250 then) but my husband had to wait until he was 65 whereupon the fuel allowance was split between us. However we both got our bus passes at 60.

i have had a bus pass for some years, as i got mine because of mental health issues. classed as a disability and now i have had it renewed since march till 2025

The cut off date for Winter Fuel payments this year is Oct 5th 1954. If you were born before that date you are entitled to it.
