I'm pretty much a loner (I like my own company about 90% of the time) and have loads of hobbies at home. My mum hates me and hates the 'no need for people' part of my personality. She's even saying people at work hates me (even though she doesn't know/met them). When I ask her what makes her think that, she'll say 'I just know'. She also said she wished I'd never been born and how I never got on with people even as a child and how I'd run upstairs when visitors came.
I'm on the waiting list for talk therapy to discuss social phobia, but how do I put up with mum's outbursts in the meantime? I have nowhere else to go/live. If we ever need building work carried out at home I always take time off so she's not alone to deal with it. Whatever I do is not enough and then she'll remind me that when I was 9, how I never leant my bike to the boy bully round the corner and says, "You've always been a selfish *itch back then".

Yes, you need to get out of the home and live elsewhere, then start joining groups and meeting new people. Your mum is bringing you down.

Treacle how old are you?

Adult age, Redhelen72.
sounds like your problem is with your mother rather than the possibly imaginary people at work. In your place I'd be saving up my income and getting out.
Yes, you need to get out of the home and live elsewhere, then start joining groups and meeting new people. Your mum is bringing you down.
It is time to make the move Treacle, and if you are Mum’s carer, time to get some help with that so that you can move.
Treacle, if you really have nowhere else to live this is what I'd do.

I'd leave for work in the morning with a few extras and book into a hotel for a night or two without telling your mother where you are.
Let her stew and give her no information when you return.
Do it again when you can afford it...and again.

I'm not telling you to do that as I don't know your circumstances. I am telling you what I would do. If nothing else came of it I would enjoy the peace and quiet.
Only you know if that would make her worse, though I can't see how she can be any worse from what you tell us.

Thank you guys for your valued advice xxx
I have been reading your other posts.
From your other posts you don't seem too keen on your colleagues or bosses so your mother is probably just picking up on what you are telling her. You refuse to join in with the social aspects of work - the leaving dos, birthdays and so on - and seem to resent colleagues who are popular.
Whether or not your mother has caused you to have such an attitude is impossible to know but you are unhappy at home and it is time to leave for your own well-being.
