What Should I Do? (Crush --- Friend --- Never Talked)

I currently have a crush on this one boy, let’s call him J. I really like him. I want to be friends with him. (I don't like relationships in general so it's just friends)
But there’s a problem (there are many).
1. We’re both quiet, and I or both of us are socially awkward.
2. He never (99%) talk to girls.
3. In the 2 years that we are at the same school (9and 10th grade) we only spoke about 2 times. (even though we had quite a lot of classes together)
I just moved to a different city which means a different school. Soooo I added him on discord (we were in a class server) cuz im never seeing him again so it's not gonna be cringey for doing so.
He accepted my friend request but didn't text anything. Didn't even ask why I added him. Non of us texted anything, not even the default hi sticker. What should I do? lol Im scared to text first + idk what to say.

Just do it the old fashioned way...say hi and smile when you pass him

Someone has to break the ice and you seem incentivised. Just text "Hi, how are you doing?", maybe.
