It definitely all seems quite casual, in a way - you didn't want to see off Bearded Guy until you saw how your new date went. Some people would have probably found that ... a bit rude, unfair. I think you (everyone) chooses the rules, the way to behave, that suits their own situation.
Hypothetically, if this new guy turned out to be married and was still with wife, but didn't want to tell you the truth because he didn't want to upset you, I guess that would have to be acceptable to you, as this is the way you run your life.
If he wanted to try things out with you for a while first to see if it worked out before telling you truth and before getting a divorce, then that would be OK too.
Just trying to demonstrate how your mind seems to work with not telling mum or friends the truth, incase you upset her or incase it doesn't work out. But if friends hear about truth from others they may not trust you and believe you have lied to them.
Try being more open and honest and you might be surprised with how much less stress it is.
After two short dates he's already asking you about staying overnight at his place? Maybe he's one of the not insignificant number on POF who are seeking sex rather than a long term partner whereas you're looking for a man to settle down with...or are you happy with just a physical relationship with no ties. Would you regret spending the night with him if you then found out he was already married or just liked sleeping around?
