Hen And Stag Parties Abroad.
It seems that every bride or groom seems to want to travel abroad for these parties these days. Don't you think it's a bit selfish to expect friends to pay to attend when they may not be able to afford it but be too embarrassed to say so? I suppose its the same as those couples who insist on marrying abroad, expecting all the guests to follow.

I date back to the time when wedding presents helped you set up home; I appreciate that nowadays couples have been living together for years and have already set up hpme so don't need housewares but I still find it difficult. We didn't have stag/hen parties and they're not our scene so neither of us goes to such events (or contributes towards them).
We have a similar quandary, not stag/hen but wedding. My half sisters son, whom we have seen on summer holidays for many years is marrying in UK August bank holiday weekend in Cornwall. Wedding is same weekend as my daughter and her 12 year old sons birthday but children not invited including older teens. Flights from here to UK and accommodation are costly at that time of year. Kids cannot be left here at home and they want to celebrate their mum and brother birthday together and we would also have to arrange care for cats, dogs and horses. So we regretfully declined
I am pretty sure that people tend to mix largely within their own income group, or thereabouts.
So if someone is going to go abroad for a party, the chances are, his or her social group can probably afford to do the same.
Of course, they may not wish to outlay that money, or attend the party anyway.
But usually, there is previous discussions, something like "I'm thinking of going to Europe for my party, who fancies it?"
And if enough people think it's a good idea, the party abroad happens, if not, it maybe happens at home.
But there is not usually an 'expectation' that people will just turn up and pay up.
