Going away for 21st B'day 'n' Christmas

This is looking quite far forward but next christmas it will be my 21st birthday and me and my family want to go away for it, to make it memorable and special.

We have been looking at going to the Alton Towers hotel, as it is a gorgeous hotel and it also has the splash landings water park.

So my first question is has anyone stayed at the Alton Towers hotel at any time of the year or christmas and what was it like?

My second question is, are there any other places that people would suggest as a nice place to stay over christmas? Has any one gone to a hotel or attraction at christmas and would recommend it?

We are looking to go for about 3 nights, 24th Dec - 27th Dec.

It would be me, my mom and dad, my 16 yr old brother, my aunt and uncle, my 2 and 5 yr old cousins and my nan who is in her 80's who are going.

This is why we thought Alton Towers would be good, as they would make Christmas magical and there is the Water Park to keep the kids entertained, but we are welcome to suggestions for other places.
