Did this on Tuesday morning, broken in two places. I have never known such pain. Can't even visit the loo without struggling. Every move hurts even if I'm not using that side of my body. How the hell am I going to manage for the next few weeks?
thankfully I can get a roast dinner delivered tomorrow. This is the first time I have been glad of predictive typing on my iPad.

Are you really expected to manage on your own?? That seems very wrong. Wish I could offer advise...other than to hassle all relevant agencies starting with your Dr's surgery.
I wouldn't know where to start to ask for any help tbh. I'm not really sure what happened. One minute I was heading for the dustbin and the next I was on the drive and couldn't move. Eventually shouted loud enough for next door to come and pick me up. I am black from the back of my left shoulder all the way down to my wrist. And it's so swollen. I was taken to UTC on Wednesday and was X-rayed. Just given a soft sling and pain killers.
You have my fullest sympathy. I damaged my shoulder whilst on holiday in Malta, 7 years ago, when I fell in the harbour area at Spinola Bay. Although I didn't break anything, the pain was excruciating and it turned out that I damaged all the small muscles and tendons in my right shoulder, including the tendons connecting one side of my biceps muscle.
I was told the only cure was time, as "at your age", any operations would be just like stitching tissue paper. I gradually regained some use after 4 months and was back playing golf after 6 months.
I damaged my right shoulder. Not good, being right handed. I could only wait and follow the physio regime I was given, but I ditched that and bought a dart board. No good at darts but it really helped and the Physiotherapist said it was a big help. Ok if its your throwing arm. I'm ok with it now, but I can still feel a slight stiffness there all the time.
Sadly, ferlew, I think time is the only cure, but what do I know. Hope it heals quickly for you.
Oh Ferlew, I am so very sorry to read this. What a rotten shame for you. I had an RTC when I was a teenager and I still get some occasional trouble with it now. You have my total empathy. I hope someone can cut up your meat for you. Silly little things can be so difficult to cope with. I hope you can get some rest with it at night. Make sure you ask for stronger pain killers if need be. Take care x
Tilly, no, I am on my own.
Yes, age was mentioned 10clarion.
it is the little things. Who could have known how hard even buttering a slice of bread would be..? Then you get an itch and without thinking you reach out to scratch.
Daft things keep catching me out, getting in or out of bed, cutting something, washing myself, and 101 other things.
I broke my humerus some years ago, and it hasn't healed right. Fell down a short flight of stairs a couple of years later and my shoulder slammed against the top of a riser. Never known pain like it. Not broken, was xrayed, (that's how I found out my arm hadn't healed properly). Still struggle to butter bread. The consultants at the fracture clinic kept telling me, 'it's healing nicely', I wonder if they ever looked at the xrays. Best of luck fewlew, sleep sitting up if you can, just for a while Hope the pain subsides and wriggle your fingers.
