Putting Together An Italian Tour
I am potentially arranging a journey through Italy for a small group of people for next year or the year after. The idea is that we fly into the South and then take the train (I have always found the Italian train system very good) to the North taking in various stops as we go. I am going to need to book accommodation for our stop off points and we are leaning towards apartment type arrangements for anything from 1 to about 4 nights. Is there a good website that people have used where I might find such accommodation, please? You hear so many horror stories about people booking apartments and then they turn up and they do not exist.

NB: Don't be put off by the word 'hostel' in that URL. There are plenty of hotels and apartments listed on that site too. (The selection of properties available varies greatly between different destinations). I've used it to find a superb little hotel, right in the centre of Madrid, which was air-conditioned, spotlessly clean and exceptionally comfortable, for 30-odd Euros per night. I've recommended the site to several other people too and nobody has been disappointed.
Alternatively, use TripAdvisor as your starting point. Any accommodation that finds it way onto the site almost certainly exists (with that certainty being increased when there are loads of reviews for it). I've always found that switching to 'map view' on TripAdvisor, rather than simply looking through the listings, is by far the easiest way to navigate the site.
