Has anyone seen the new tampon ad that has a funky voice-over by a man. Maybe its just me but when I saw it last night I wanted to put my foot through the telly. I mean some bloke telling us ladies how great they are, etc, blah, blah, blah. what a load of kack. Are Tampax trying to be really cool and hip? Well I for one am not amused.

Also wanted to hit my partner over the head with frying pan but this was totally unrealted to Tampax advert.

This is not a PMT rant or maybe it is, I don't know, but I am going to the loos now for a good cry;-o)

Is that the one for the "flower power" tampons? WTF is that about?? GGRRRRRRR!
Question Author
Yep, thats the one mycats. Think the advertisement consultants must have been smoking some 'flower power waccy baccy' when they came up with that one.
Have you got your big pants on :-)
Question Author
You better believe it baby!!! Also work in a male only office (except me) so today is going to be fun, fun, fun, well for me anyway, he, he.
use of males in female-only territory like this used to be aimed (often subconsciously) at making you think of your father and the wise advice he would offer. Of course, fathers traditionally seldom offered much tampon advice. In this case, it may be aimed at encouraging thoughts of a more sexually equal world where men don't make period jokes ('Never trust anything that bleeds for days and doesn't die') and don't regard menstruating women as more likely to hit them with a fying pan.

Bit of a failure, then.
Question Author
jno - encouraging thoughts of a more sexually equal world??? I wish and hope. When I put tampons on the shopping list my partner will come back with everything on the list except tampons!!!! He simply refuses to buy them but he has no problem with me buying condoms (neither do I for that matter but still), what a t*sser.
goodness, what a picky shopper... wanna borrow my frying pan?
Question Author
Yes please, have you got one of those really really heavy cast iron ones?
absolutely; it's outlasted the heads of 26 husbands and barely dented.
Question Author
Better post it 'same day delivery'!

mdoo98 - wanna make something of it, huh, huh??? Step outside now:-)
i'm with ya warpig! need an excuse for a good scrap this morning i have my frying pan to hand
S0d that I got a wok :-)
Question Author
Lets go girls!!!

Seriously though mdoo98 do you not find it patronising when women are used to advertise a normally male dominated product. Say for instance,at a motor show when there are lots of lovely young sexy women paid to drape themselves lascivously over the cars!! I mean toes that not really annoy you????

Was laughing myself when I typed that.
Question Author
toes xxx - does.
I agree...when I first saw that I stared in disbelief. Even Mr Pippa commented he found it 'odd'.

I wanted to grab hold of that guys testicles, give them a good twist, and politely ask if he felt all 'flower power' when he feels like his guts are falling out ;o)
Question Author
Pippa68 - my sentiments exactly snigger snigger.

Incidentally, sent an e-mail to Tampax stating my views, it will be interesting to see what they come back with!!! Will keep you all posted.

mdoo98 - whats wrong, you a scaredy cat?
like I said, there'll be a reason for it - ads cost zillions to make, so things like this aren't done on a whim - they'll have thought a lot about it and spoken to focus groups and stuff. But they still make mistakes. If they get enough negative feedback they'll drop it; the ads are supposed to be selling tampons, not annoying people.

As to what the reason was... can't even begin to imagine.
Question Author
Well I guess we are discussing it and as they say 'there is no such thing as bad publicity' Maybe this was their aim?
