Paedophile Priests

After seeing the Panorama documentary last night about the paedophile priests and the cover up and protection of these priests by the Catholic Church.
The priests that they send in to replace these paedophile Priests and to ensure an effective cover up have �17 million at their disposal to buy the silence required yet have no procedure or funds to help the victims. it just gives me another reason to be glad I have no affiliation to any religious organisation and proud to say I am a non believer. What are your thoughts in general and more specifically on the Catholic Church?

I think the Catholic Church should be disbanded and the money put in a Charitable Foundation.

I was brought up a Catholic and A)dont believe in God anymore and, B) THink they are a bunch of deviant evil doers.

The Vatican is currently giving refuge to and refusing to extradite seven priests to the USA to face charges of child abuse!!

In my opinion the Catholic Church has always been the biggest hypocrit around.

A oriest who worked as a teacher at my school was done...the Church relocated him...hiding him for while, then giving him his own parish not far away. The same happened to a priest at my local church...they hide them away abroad in some uiet place then bring them back when they think everyone has forgotten and place them somewhere else.

I grew up a catholic child, sang every Sunday in the church choir and attended a top catholic boarding school run by Ursuline nunns. Today I refuse to call myself a catholic. At the age of 9 a priest who considered himself a close friend of my family started fondling me inappropriately. This continued on and off for about four years. I was terrified of telling anyone at the time, as Father F. always told me that I would be excommunicated and burn in hell if I mentioned it to anyone. He said everyone would condemn me as a liar. My father was a much loved singer & actor and my parents were highly respected in the community for all the charity work they did. Father F. never let me forget that I would destroy all this if I spoke out. His threats were terrifying for such a young child. Despite this, I must make clear that I did meet a few wonderful catholic priests over the years.
I totally condemn the catholic church for its stance on paedophile priests! I only hope that priests who are not this way inclined will leave the catholic church in droves! In my eyes, paedophiles are the scum of the earth and paedophile priests are even worse as the children they prey on are brought up being taught that these men are next to God and hence are totally trustworthy! If the catholic church had any integrity it would chuck the lot of them out, strip them of everything they have and hand them over to the high courts for sentencing. And if the catholic church had an ounce of honour it would do all in its power to help the victims of these perverts! Instead it is still all brushed under the carpet and hushed up and still today little children are being told they will burn in hell if they speak out! Well I am in tears writing this, but I am now speaking out! Thanks AB and you Ratter for giving me the courage!

Up until now Ratter I have sadi very little on the answer bank but I must admit found your conversation with the fat guy levi or something a while back hysterical, the patter seems to have ended shame it really cheered me up. Anyway on the topic mentioned I was brought up catholic, dad was mum wasnt, I havnt followed the religion but daft as it sounds whether its the respect for my dad or being really scared faith does concern me some times so I choose to ignore, spineless however true!!, as far as catholics are concerned I somehow agree and disagree the b*st*rds can be of any religion I don't think that is an underlying issue, like race, colour, sex etc, if you know what I mean, these *** are all over and should be taken to an island and left to take it out on each other

I absolutely HATE it on here when you spend ages thinking of what to say and Bingo its gone what in a nutshell I am teying to say is its not just catholic priests (Isay this as my dad is the best in the world and what an upbringing we have had this would torture him), but these weirdo freaks are every religion race etc, its just becos they are priests they are getting the press, my dad lost his mum and dad many years ago, I have often asked him how he has coped as I know without him and mum I wud be no good and he has never EVER shouted about his faith. I would more rip my toes off than take this away from my dad. I once asked him what he would do if he died and there was no god, you know what his answe was "QUOTE", Bec at least I had someone to turn to in times of need", think about this guys if your wife, hubbie, child, etc were in a life support machine tell me you would not pray??, I can not even bear to think about sickos like peodoyuks but surely they are everywhere not just as catholic priests, and maybe lets ask a few members I am sure they if they dare speak out would agree a filthy dirty child **** does not have to hide behind anything they just lurk, well lets hope there is a hell, because at leat they will ROT, Ratter i am sure you would agree (well if you were sitin on the rocky horse with a glass eye anyhow, where has the fat guy gone he was so funny lol)

when whatever you have been taking is out of your system please try and tell us what you were trying to say.....may I add that I agree that the Vatican seems to be putting up a wall to prevent investigation into the behaviour of a lot of their employees namely priests , any other company is responsible for its employees and is liable for those employees actions and should take steps to rectify any problems. The Vatican don't.

Ratter from what I have seen in the questions and answers you gave, but hey surely we are out of order saying all catholics are ***, does that count for all religion, if so it saddens me for one reason I am one of the lucky ones to have a dad who is a one in a million and these answers will devastate him, his parents were good but now dead, please back me up and admit there are sad weirdos everywhere who do not have to be catholic but "Anything", I believe by your answers the replies I am receiving yep do hurt because I have been brought up with nothing but love and help no matter how much I have hurt my parents my dad has always been there. fatmanlevi was indeed a woman (we think)...caused a lot of controversy the other weekend, being rude to a fellow aber - albeit for no apparent reason...if fact lost the plot completely...out and out fruit cake/nutter who said one thing, then another, then another about themselves, that in the end we didn't know what to believe!!
