Mentioned in despatches

My Grandfather was "mentioned in despatches" in June 1945. Does anyone know how to find out why he was mentioned please? It's been driving me mad for years. Thanks in anticipation. Marion

According the above link, the report is published in the London Gazette. They have a searchable database on their website so it may be worth trying that although I don't know if it covers what you are after.
