my childrens passports expire january 08 and we are travelling to spain in august 07 is this ok or do i need 6 months on their passports

The Spanish immigration authorities only want passports to be valid for the duration of your stay.

yes,they will be fine,but i would re new them on your return.

i would recomend doing them sooner rather than later. they will be introducing new procedures by the end of the year, which will doubtlessly push the price of a new passport even higher.
