Parents can prevent their childrens photos being taken or published. Whilst this is not good from your point of view, there are people out there that could be a danger to their own children and these rules have been set up to protect them.
There was an outcry at our local school a couple of years ago when the put the lists of pupils and their new classes on a notice board in the playground for the duration of the summer holidays and anyone could go and look at it.

Contact the education authority in the area in which your son lives and/or social services. If there is no reason why you can't see your son i.e court order and you can prove your relationship. They should be able to help. If you were married at the time of his birth and/or your name is on the birth certisifcate then you hold parental rights and the information should be available to you.
Otherwise search online in the electoral register for your wife.

thanks for your help on this i am really just trying to find out if he is still at school,i could just stop paying the maintenance but this would have the the csa on my case knowing my ex,there is no reason why i couldnt get access but in my experience the courts are only interested in getting money from the father not granting access also means more solicitors bills really dont know where to turn !
If you want to have contact with your son in the future DO NOT stop paying maintenance..the courts won't look too kindly on that!
Courts are not only interested in money...they will listen to you providing you have continued to pay maintenance and tried to contact the mother.
Court cases don't have to cost money. You can do what we have done and represented ourselves in court ~ and won. You can also go for a free consultation with a solicitor to get some advice.
