tracing an adopted reletive

Hi, a few months ago i found out that ive got a brother i never new about, my mum had him at 17 and put him up for adoption. I have since been given the adoption cercificate and i know the fathers last name, what is the best way of tring to track him down? Unfortunatly my mum wont talk to me about him, the info i have has come from my auntie but she wont tell me anything else.
I just want him to know im looking for him should he wish to get in touch. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks
