Reply to Munchausen Question
As I was unable to post a response to the above mentioned topic I had to create another topic to answer
Before you jump to outrageous conclusions here, and I'm not saying you ar, please think very carefully. It is very easy to be judgemental of people who do not follow what you personally class as a healthy eating plan.I have read your list of foods that this child consumes and I have to say apart from the crisps and sweets, it isn't anything I would be unduly concerned over. White bread contains calcium, potatoes are a good source of energy and vitamins as are spaghetti. Even chocolate contains iron. If the child was being starved then you may have something to worry about. As it is at least she is being fed. It may not meet your standards the quality of food, but I am confused as to where you get your suspicions on your Munchausens theory. Is the child frequently in hospital with unexplained illnesses and injuries? That is how Munchausens manifests itself, the parent demands attention through the child's illness. From what you say, the mother resents interference and is not demanding attention at all. To be blunt I am not suprised that your 'friend' is becoming annoyed at people interfering, you are questioning her parenting skills.
My advice to you is to stop being so judgemental, offer more support instead of criticism and act more like the 'best friend' you proclaim to be.
