Quick Update!

Hey - thought i'd update you all on my preggyness whilst i got the chance!

I'm now 11 days overdue.

I went to hospital yesterday morning for an assessment and went to the labour ward where the babys heartbeat and movements were monitored for about 20 minutes. I was then told to go for a scan to check that there was enough fluid around the baby and WOW - we saw the babys face for the time - features and all! Was astonishing! She looked so bloody miserable and fed up-bless her!lol.

Anyway, she's as healthy as ever!

Midwife then asked me if i wanted a sweep... i said yeah in the hope that it would bring on labour naturally....oh my gosh!!! Those that said it wasnt painful LIED!!!! I felt somewhat violated and described the feeling to one of my friends as being fisted by an elephant... (not that i've actually experienced that sort of thing but it gives you an idea!) My other half was emotionally scarred after the midwife held her gloved hand up in front of him and told us what to expect after the sweep....lol - cant imagine what he'll be like during the birth!!!

She manged to touch the baby's head with one finger and my notes read i'm 1cm dialated - yaay! Only 9cm more to go!

But i sit here now and still no "show" or contractions.

So final step is tomorrow!!!! I'm booked in to be induced. I have to go to my hospital at 5pm and basically stay there until she comes out!! They are inducing me using what she described as a "tampon-like" thing.... can anyone shed anymore light on what will happen?! Only thing i read which sounded similar in my baby book was something with a HOOK!??"

So my lovely people, next time i come on here i'll have baby!! Or i might pop up to my parents office tomorrow afternoon too!

Guessing baby pixie is here!! Yay!

sounds exactly like what redcrx went through. I'm sure we are hoping everythign goes well for you tomorrow. Tell her to hurry up!!!!!

the hook thing is for breaking waters hun. They wont use that until you are possibly 3cmas with no change.

Are you trying to break my record of 17 days overdue? lol i hope not.

What they did for me was at 14 days over I was taken in. They insert a pessary that contains a hormone to soften cervix, the same hormone is in sperm so you can always try and have lots of sex :)

Hopefully this will get contractions moving, if not they will give you more at a certain interval (it may be 12 hours) until either that works or they can break your waters (with the hook)

I cant say its very comfortable but just remember that its all one step closer to the birth and arrival of baby nat.

In the meantime try going around on all fours to get her into position, take long walks, or climb stairs.

Well I havent logged onto AB for months now but I thought you were due around now so thanks for the update. My son was 10 days overdue and finally I went into labour after having a long talk with him, telling him I knew he didnt want to come out but he may as well make it now as he would have to come out eventually. After that talk, I stood up and started having contractions!

Hi, guys! Thought I would just give you an update on nat...

She's in labour as we speak, and has another examination due at half past 11 to see how dialated she is. They've been told that baby nat will have definitely arrived by late afternoon. I'll keep you all posted, though. :o) x

good luck to Nat god it brings back memories, I was 11 day overdue and he weighed 8lb 11, so i guess 8lb 6 as its a girl.
Hope all goes well for her really do and if she does have the baby today we will share the same birthday which is great because i dont know 1 single person that has the same date appart from mystic meg which is nothing to brag about.

Oh my...I'm all excited! I've been following her "progress" all along, and I can't wait for her to get long awaited little bundle of joy! lol
