track down a family member

Has anyone tracked down a family member in the States before. If so how do you go about doing it.

Hello Lauralane - we found my husband's family after many years searching via orthodox routes. After all else failed I posted a message on the website of the town my husband's father was born in and got an answer a year later. His American children were looking for him as well and had also gone to the website and saw my message. They did all the legwork over there but, sadly, he'd died in 1972. So - it all depends on what information you have to start with, the internet is a goldmine now.

As a starter, try http://www.whitepages.com/... the relative may pop up with a phone number. If not, the site offer (for a fee) additonal searches of databases...
