Can I Legally Change My Daughters Name

my daughter lived with my brother for 4 years i now have her back and i want to change her surname from my maidan name to my marriage name ?

if her dads name is on the birth certificate u have to hav his permission to do this cause my mate had to do this recently.

you dont really have to have the fathers permission, i changed my name this year from my fathers surname to my mothers, and as i havent been in contact with him for over 6 years i didnt need his permission at all.

you missed the point calon ur an adult but with a child if the dads name is on birth certificate u have 2 get his permission i know quite a few people who have recently had to do this.

her dads name is not on the certificate anyway so thats not a problem

You just go to the Birth's office at your local Council and re-register the name

if you have married your daughter's father, you can change it at the register office where your daughter's birth was registered for free, just need to pay for new certificate �3.50
if you married somebody else, there are two types of deed poll.
i think that one is around �20 and its just one that the solicitor makes up himself, if you get this one, get lots of duplicates as no record is kept and if it is lost, you will have to do the whole thing again.
there is another type of deed poll that is a bit more money, however the solicitor will keep a permanent record so if it is lost, or your daughter wants another copy when she is older, she can just go to the solicitor and request one
out of the two, this is the better one
