Feel like I'm going backwards at 30 weeks!
5 Answers
Hi all
Well haven't been on here for a while now and I am now 30 weeks pregnant! Where has the time gone, I remember my first post was way back when I was only 5 weeks pregnant.
Hope all your pregnancies have been going okay.
I am feeling so tired lately and very achey, in fact I almost feel like I've gone back to those early days of pregnancy again, I guess this is normal with the big bump I have now!
I was just wondering about lying on my back at 30 weeks, I've heard that you are not supposed to lie on your back after 30 weeks pregnant as it can harm the baby, is this true? Sometimes lying on my side at night is so uncomfortable, even with cushions etc. and I really want to lie on my back but feel like I can't.
Anyone know the score with this one?
Thanks.

as for feeling like youre going backwards, its perfectly normal to go back to the tired and often exhausted feeling now your in the last trimester.

Hi Ellegirly
Unfortunately there is another reason why you shouldn't lie on your back. The weight of the baby can press down on the artery that supplies blood to your brain and cause you to black out.
I must stress that I don't know anyone or even know of anyone who has blacked out from lying on their back but its another thing to add to the long list of pregnancy "don'ts".
Hope you manage to find a comfy position x

At 24 weeks, Im still waiting to go forwards! lol
Have you tried propping yourself up with pillows so you are pretty much sitting up and not on your side but at the same time you are not flat on your back either? Im having no choice but to sleep like this as I have pelvic girdle pain and although I can lay on my sides, I cant move once I get there! lol

I was absolutely huge when I was carrying my children. Both times I put on about 4 stone in weight, & the only time i could get comfy in bed, was if I laid on my side with a bolster cushion against me. It was no good trying to lie on my back, otherwise I couldn't get up again! However, shortly before having my first child, I was told he was in the breech position, & an old widwife passed on a tip. She told me to lie on my back for 20 minutes, with my legs up against a wall at a 90 degree angle. I did this twice a day for a week, and my baby was born in the normal position, with no problems at all.
Hello all and thank you for your words of advice and wisdom!
I am nearing the end of my tether I have to say! Having terrible problems sleeping lately but I think alot of it is all in the mind.
Not only can I not get comfortable on my side and feel too guilty to lay on my back even though sometimes that is the most comfortable for me, but I have also developed 'restless legs' - the most annoying thing ever!
I have tried warm milk before bedtime, lavendar baths, pampering, reading... but as soon as that light goes out - bing! I'm awake and just can't get comfortable :o(
I guess it's just what us pregnant women have to put up with? Doesn't help having a snoring husband next to me! We are waiting for the delivery of a sofa bed for our spare room and I am pretty sure I'll be on that most nights once we have it! (or the hubby will!!)
Must admit, am finding the last trimester a toughy but I know it will all be worth it once I finally get to meet my little bundle of joy! I just pray for the day when I can sleep on my front again! I've forgotten what that feels like! :o)
