Do you / your children have middle names? Why did you choose your child's middle name and did you have problems deciding? If so, how did you overcome these? How did you get your middle name?

What do people think generally about having them?

I'd love that idea cameo, I'd make upmy own middle as "Terrific" or something like that :-)
Hi nat

My son has 2 middle names the name of his paternal grandfather (and I have since discovered my grandfather's middle name) and also my maiden name. His christian name was a joint descision although my husband said his name had to start with a G (number plate on car) and be Welsh so with all this in mind my no. 1 son goes by the grand name of Gwilym George Peers Fairclough, with a name like that I think he could be a prime minister!

Regards Parsley
i have 2 middle names and my daughter also has 2. i think it is nice to have a middle name....dnt know why...my mum doesnt have a middle name and her name sounds so boring!!
Hi natalie

I won the argument with my hubby and our son has my maiden name as his middle name.
My mum has two middle names both of which she hates and my g'dad has two middle names too.
My bro is named for my dad, we decided not to go down that route.

It is so hard chosing names, good luck x
My first daughter took 15 hours to be born and was a nightmare.

With the help of a wonderful midwife I had my 2nd daughter in 3 hours. Her name wasFay and I was so grateful to her my daughter's middle name is Fay!!

I will never forget that lady!!
My eldest has a middle name that that was just chosen as it well with her first name, however Mini Boo's middle name is Mary both our grandmas were called that.
B00's own middle name is H00, of course
My full name is actually Moo Boo Hoo ;-)
Hi my daughters middle name is Rae since my Dad is Ray and she's his first and so far only grandchild...

I love middle names... names are like gifts you give to your children and to me it seems like a wasted opportunity to not give one - my Dad doesn't have one and he has said his name feels a little boring sometimes ... as if his parents didn't really go the extra effort for him on the name front...

I do think finding the right compromise is important if you and hubby are disputing which family member a middle name should be for but if you talk it out then a compromise can be reached... it took me and my hubby 9 months to do it!!! :-) Good luck!
My sons have their grandparents names.
We actually chose the middle names for our two girls first, they were always going to have a middle name.
The oldest daughters middle name is Lena after my nan and aunt, unfortunately I didn't like it enough to have it as a first name but I knew I wanted a family name (it actually made my Dad very happy and proud too because it was his Mum and sister who were called Lena) and that was very nice for me to see.
My youngest daughters middle name is Rose, this goes with her first name beautifully and it's my only neice's name.
I am adopted and my adopted parents kept my birth name and gave me a middle name of my birth mother. There is a story to tell about this but here is not the place. My daughter has a middle name just because I liked it but my son has no middle name because his father chose and desided against it.
I have 2 middle names (Mary O'brien) & i only gave my son a middle name (Nicholas) after his dad.

I dont have kids but I have a middle name - Lesley! After Lesley Neilson and I'm a bird...parents why do you so this to your children?!
Morning, Natalie - My middle is Leigh. My dad had a boat named Heavenly and he wanted that as my middle name. My mum said no way so they comprimised.

My son's middle name is after my eldest cousin who died - but somehow it fitted him perfectly he is Lewis Steven.

However my little girl doesnt have one as her first name is double barrelled, she is Ella-Mai. We thought a middle name for her would be too much of a mouthfull.

My children have shorter first names and all quite modern so I gave them the longer more traditional middle names of Alexander, Francesca and Llewellyn( we have welsh ancestors)!
My daughter's middle name was chosen just because it seemed to go with the first name (Sarah Louise) but my son has the same middle name as his Dad and paternal grandfather - I think we have a family tradition in the making!
My 3 kids have very ordinary first names that were deliberately picked so they couldn't be shortened. They all have more exotic middle names. We did this so that if they wanted a more unusual first name when they were older, they could use their middle names.
Mr O has FOUR christian names - his mother had delusions of grandeur.
My mum was convinced she was expecting a boy and when I was born she had no girls names in mind. There were 2 other baby girls on the ward and, having no imagination, she named me after them. It's lucky for me there were other babies on the ward. If mum had been alone and looked around for inspiration, I could have been christened Wash Handbasin or No Smoking!
I can kind of get calling your daughter Mrs, but who in their right mind called their daughter overall, or are you trying to say that mrs overall isn't your real name?

Could have been worse, you could have been bed pan!!
