We had to ask the court to endorse an accompanied contact order for my adopted daughters grandmother because birth mum(who died) made an allegation against her step father. She intended to have him charged before her death to protect her little girl who I have adopted (my husband is her natural father)she died and didnt get chance... are you still with me? When she made the allegation her mother gave her no support, called her a liar and told people she was mentally ill, this went on for 15 years. The court supported an agreement where my daughter had no contact at all with the alleged offender and was not left alone with the grandmother as we feared that she would not protect our daughter given the way she treat her own daughter when she made the allegation. The alleged offender died and now the grandmother is taking us back to court because she wants the arrangement lifted. During the last contact she took it upon herself to have unaccompanied contact without asking us first, we also feel let down by the relative who agreed to support the arrangement and help protect our daughter. We understand that the case never went to trial so there are no legal grounds but we cant take the chance with our daughters safety. We dont want to appear unreasonable and worry that we will be in trouble with the court but we are thinking of suspending the contact until this is formally resolved and feel we cant accept anything less than accompanied contact. We dont even feel sure we can trust that after what has happened but we know its the best we can hope for in a less than ideal situation. We really want to put our foot down but dont think we will be supported by the court. the grandmother is a bully and she constantly holds the court order over us. any advice appreciated!!!!!!
She sounds like a witch. Tell her she's not seeing your kid again and that you'll happily see her in court.
I think you've got to put a bit of faith and trust in the court system. What else can you do?
I would imagine that if she tries telling the court that her daughter only accused her husband of child-abuse because she was mentally ill, them the court would look very dimly on such allegations - especially when she cant back this up with any proof.
