Hey Daff!

Though its obvious, I think you need to make it very clear to them that the world today is a horrible place, and children very easily go missing.

It is the duty and repsonsibility of the school to ensure the safety of ALL its students and staff. It is unacceotable to allow any child, let alone a 4 yr old, to wander around the school or outside. Not onlt do we have perverts in this day and age but also careless drivers who could quite easily knock a child over if they happen to wander outside and into the road.

I would really let rip! Dont hold back Daffi!

I am so angry at the minute, spaced. The road out the front of the school is so busy and like you say, the world isn't a nice place at the minute. I'm glad my son came and found me rather than wandering. I have talked to my son and told him to wait with his teacher until I get there.
I really want to be calm and rational this afternoon! Lol x
You must be calm. Shouting and screaming, though justified, shows that you cannot get your point across without raising your voice.

Be calm, clear but very very firm. The headmistress must know that this has happened more than once. What you dont want to do is not have her on your side, and defending the teachers. Plus you have to think that your children will be in this school, so you dont want the teachers to act funny with your children because you have made a complain about them

Though my child is not at school yet, trust me, I would be extremely annoyed and I would be in the headmistresses office straight away.

Let us know how you get on!!!!!

Have other parents any concerns about this teacher? She sounds pretty incompetent to me, at my 4 year old's school they will not let the children go unless it's with someone the school knows such as a parent, aunt/uncle etc. My sis in law went to pick the little guy up from school before half term as a surprise for him (she live 200 miles away and doesn't see him very often), I had to telephone the school, give them her name, description, car registration and she had to produce identification when she arrived at the school
keep calm ,go see school head and if it happens again get in touch with education dept.My friends son is "special needs"
the older children are left to look after him at playtime and lunchtime. 10 year olds looking after a 5year old who doesn't understand danger!! Thankfully he has a place at special school from September.
i used to have to do the same thing with my children get one then go around for the other but the teacher used to stand at the class door and would only let the children out as you told her the childs name even though she knew,if i was in your shoes i would not be happy at all with this situation and it is the schools responability to make sure all children are safe.i know you said your child did come straight around to you but wot if he hadnot?it only takes one min for some perv to get a child.

Thanks everyone. I don't know if any other parents have any concerns or not. I told my friend yesterday about her little girl and I know she was not very happy. The teacher has only been in the school since march as my sons teacher, his other teacher left because she is pregnant, but she used to teach at the school a few years ago. She moved to another school but when the post came up she came back, so it isn't like she is new to it. My son's old teacher was brilliant. The children had to stay seated in the classroom until the teacher saw the childs parent. If it wasn't you picking up the child, you had to inform the teacher who it would be. My other half picked the kids up one day, the teacher had not met him before. She asked him for his name (which I had told her that morning), ID, and then asked my son who he was. My son replied 'that's Gary' His teacher asked 'how does he know mummy' to which my son replied 'he sleeps in mummy's bed'! Lol!
That's shocking, daffi! At my niece's playschool, they have a file for each child stating who can and who can't collect them. Each child has a password that the "picker-upper" must know and produce ID! :) Good luck later. x

Hi all! Thanks for your answers. I have seen the headteacher, she was very shocked to learn that this had happened, she said that there is a strict policy that the teachers follow with regard to releasing the children from school. I know the other teachers follow this policy. She said the matter will be dealt with as a matter of urgency and that the teacher in question will be dealt with. I remained calm although I got a bit tearful, I think it was the realisation of what could have happened to my son. The head was as angry when I left as I was when I went in! x
I don't blame you for being very annoyed at this. Children's safety should be paramout!

I have had similar dealings, where my son also 4 came home and told me he hadn't been taken for dinner, I checked his bag and he hadn't even opened his sandwiches! I rang the school and they couldn't give me a straight answer where he had been for his dinner break!

I was besides myself thinking where my son was for an hour and how no-one noticed!

Awful!
