My wife and I have one child and are going to be full time students starting this September meaning that we will be giving up our jobs. We currently own 75% of our property under a shared equity scheme. Our property is 20 000 ponds less than we bought it so we are in negative equity and unable to sell it. Will we be entitled to apply for housing benefit? Please advise.

Id ask you local benefits office, but i always thought that if youve intentionally made yourself unemployed that youre not entitled.

if you cant afford to go to uni then dont, stay employed and save up, or go to uni one at a time.
I agree with redcrx,if you can't afford to go to University and pay your own mortgage then don't go to University. Why should the tax payers be expected to pay your mortgage and buy your 75% share of the house for you?

if all the persons living in the house are students, you dont have to pay council tax. You wont get housing benefit because you could work, you just chose not to
