Right. Ive been in an argument recently.

I was wondering about a legal point of nationality.

Scenario: Two parents, both English have a child, the child is born while they are in a foreign country such as Italy.

Now is the child legally English or Italian?
I thought it was rather obvious myself but it seems some people want to dispute it.

Thanks for help.

This is exactly my case, my husband and I are both British and I gave birth to child in Spain, she can get dual nationality but has to apply, doesn't come automatically. Also if the child is under 18, then one of the parents also has to change as one can't have a child of different nationality to the parents.
and btw, my daughter's children will only be British if she a) marries a Brit, or b) gives birth in Britian.
