If I am buying a personalised keepsake box as a christening present, it will have the chils name on it and the date. Should the date be when they were born or the date of the christening?

Quite honestly where many people put the baby's date of birth it would be original to put the christening date. The child will always know when he was born but how many people can say when they were christened? You could state Christened or Baptised plus the date. HTH
I opt for the Christening/Baptism date on my gifts - that's what the gift is celebrating:)
