CBT therapists are extremely good at working on self-esteem and confidence as are hypnotherapists. Look them up on the internet for details of how they work. You can find a therapist in your area by looking on the BACP website. (British assoc. of counselling and pyschotherapy.) Expect to pay between 30 - 60 per hourly session. You could need as little as four sessions to gain benefit. Good Luck.
Hi. Like you I had really low self esteem and no confidence after my marriage ended. I did not have money to pay for a therapist however I did use the Counselling service at my Local Health Centre. More importantly i got myself involved in small groups doing things like Aromatherapy and relaxation and I became involved as a volunteer at local community groups. Citizens Advice Bureau is great as they depend on volunteers to keep there service running. If you begin to work with the CAB you will be trained in a huge variety of things that will all help you to relearn that you are a valuable person and that you do have a use in this big bad world. Best of Luck.
I know others on here will sneer, but I bought a CD from Waterstones - one of a series of hypnosis CDs.
I really do find it helps. I have never heard the CD all the way through as I always fall asleep - so I only use it in bed.
But although I do suffer at times from lack of confidence I have no real issues bothering me.
I can only suggest you try it but if it does not work you may need counselling.
