Anne's

Hi all! Sorry for not being around to enjoy your company during the week, & once again apologise for placing a "non-question" in Q&P, but it's your fault for being kind enough to care how my dear friend Anne's getting on!
Ok, her 2nd bout of chemo was cancelled last week, as tests showed an abnormal liver function result. She was also suffering badly with pain around her ribs & in her back, but a swift prescription of co-codamol soon got rid of that - in her words, "Nice drugs" (!)
Tests on Monday showed her liver was well enough to cope with a treatment on Wednesday, though with an adjusted cocktail of drugs to prevent a recurrence of the problem.
Anne & her partner drove down to see me yesterday & I took them out for lunch she really enjoyed sitting in the sun & filling her face! She's been really hungry
She's fairly miffed (!!) that she's losing her hair, but with encouragement is looking at wigs & hats. I was very happy that Anne respects my judgement enough to have brought a wig & a couple of hats & scarves to ask my opinion about...
...Girls & women have always asked for my help with their "look" & I seem to be good at getting it right oh, come on I don't get to hear that trumpet very often! I've also worn a fair few wigs & dresses (Note to self "Too much information?..")
So, by the time I'd finished with her, she looked utterly fabulous play nice, please!
She's very tired today & is being well looked-after by a marina full of friends who'll take care of her every need. She's (so far!) declined the offer of a bedside bell & a pair of purple pyjamas
I'm sorry in advance if I don't reply immediately to any posts, but I'll check in again this evening.
Thank you for your kind wishes & your indulgence in allowing me to post these threads.
Love, Lie-in King & Anne! xx

Anne sure is blessed to have you as a mate as you have a wonderful sense of humour, you are compassionate + a genius. You are popular here, rightly so, too! Blow that trumpet - what is the point in false modesty besides you are peachy anyhow. Love that Jenny Joseph poem, too, although just 35 years love wearing purple + red together + a little bit of a rebel so can relate to that one!
Please pass on Bea's kind regards too. Dr Norman Cousins- one of my heroes healed himself of a rare uncurable condition when he was only given 6 months to live- humour was one of his medicines + he confounded the doctors. My mama in law has beaten cancer twice + nickname her speedy gonzalez as she moves so fast blink and you miss her ( she is phenomenal) + she is always on the go + hugely popular + adorable ( now been 10 years free of cancer too) so there is always reason to hope.
Warmest wishes to you Lie-in-King + to Anne.
Kind regards, Bea :-)

Lie-in-King...I too must have missed this before.
It sounds as if your friend Anne is dealing with this with a great deal of courage, and that best of medicines - humour.
Very best wishes to you both.
...and the bit about you dressing in wigs and dresses, I shall merely file away for future reference.☺

Hello , Your Majesty !
I had missed you for a few days. Please pass on all best wishes to Anne who is in a horrid situation. I think the red hat is cruel and unusual treatment and she should loudly protest about it. Here's hoping that her treatment is very effective very soon...glad she has an appetite...that must be a good sign.
Keep up the good work of giving her treats/looking after her.
I expect we will all be discussing your dress sense and wardrobe choices at some later date....memories are long here on AB :-)
Love to you, Anne and her partner. Thinking about you all,
ladyalex xxx

I'm so sorry that I've been away from the PC tonight - I was kidnapped by a neighbour & forced to drink beer!! Cruel & unusual punishment...
m'ladyalex, weeal, Judy, novalis & aniani - thank you all for your kind messages - I make sure that Anne sees all of these threads & she's thrilled by the goodwill you send her!
Oh, & Judy - my "Profile" says that I've posted 10,857 answers - I would guess at 400/500 of those being "add-on" posts to various threads (?)
...Dins was scrummy, though I say so myself - pan-fried chicken breast in a white wine & cream sauce, green beans & sauteed potatoes. It's fairly depressing cooking for one, but every now & again the mood hits me!.. :-))
I'm off up the wooden hill now, hopefully to refresh my brain for tomorrow's crosswords!..
Love to you all, xxx
