Can I sell my garden to my wife?

The mortage and deeds are all in my name and was wondering if my wife could buy the garden from me.
Not to make money but just to have the house and the garden seperat. It's a freehold any help would be great

Ok maybe not sell it to her but maybe give/transfer part of the garden.
Leaving a path and bottom part of the garden so there is still access to the back door.
Just wondering how we would go about it. We have no plans to sell so this will not be a problem it's just a big garden and want to seperate it.

I really don't understand why you would want to do this.
At the moment I take it that you and your wife live in the house and that you both have access to the garden.
Do you think that this situation is likely to exist forever?
Things can change and sometimes the change is outside of our control
I think by doing as you wish you are both complicating your affairs, and perhaps creating difficulties in the future.

Thanks for your concerns about our personal welfare in the future but there is no need.
Situation
Our house may at sometime in the future come under a compulsery purchase order i.e the Gov make us sell to a development company at full market value they built 5+ houses on our land and make loads of money we are left unable to get a new mortgage.
If our house and garden are seperate we will get a fair price for the land

snatchy 79 ---I see where you are coming from now.This an attempt to maximise the value of your assets--yes.
Well nothing wrong with that in my view, but Ithink you are going to need specialist advice to ensure that things are watertight in case of any eventuality.
