Bloody Halifax!
8 Answers
My 14 year old daughter wants a bank account with a cashcard & after careful research we decided that the Halifax had the account she wanted. After school I took her there, armed with her passport (which ran out in May). They refused to accept the passport as ID, even though she's not changed one iota in the last 11 days, and asked if she had a driving licence. I pointed out she is 14. They then asked her if she's got any utility bills in her name. I again pointed out she is only 14. They then asked her to produce a council tax bill in her own name. At this point I gave up.

Your post reminds me of the time my gran who has since sadly passed away, went into the TSB to open an account for my eldest daughter when she was born. The staff tried to bamboozle her with all those daft questions too, but they didn't reckon on my gran- she was a formidable lady and by the time she left them (think they were crying) not only had she obtained an account, she had an extra 5.00 put in courtesy of TSB and a bunch of flowers delivered the day after!
