http://www.freebmd.org.uk - UK & Wales birth marriage and death index 1837-c1936ish
http://www.familysearch.org - 1881 census, IGI (baptisms, marriages and a few deaths from 1500's-1800's) plus other records.
Also if you visit your local large library, Records Office or Local Archives, they usually have Ancestry that you can use for free.
