Last week my husband ( who I am separated from) got arrested for driving with no tax or insurance and the police searched his car and found false number plates. He had been using these to do petrol runs for a while as far as I know. The police turned up at my house that afternoon when my 3 kids were having dinner and they said they had to search my house for more false plates and any other evidence involved with these crimes. I let them search and they found nothing. They put a lot of pressure on me to make a statement, and they said if my kids were seen on any of the cctv clips or I was then I would be in a lot of trouble and would have my kids taken to social services while I was questioned. They said my husband did not care about me and thats why he gave my home as a residential address. I was upset as the kids were wondering what was going on and all my neighbours could see these 4 police officers and the 2 cars outside my home. In the end I made a statement to say that he did have plates before and that he dumped them and that he had been using them since early this year. The police told him that I said he wasn\\\'t welcome back at my home and that I wanted my key back off him. I didnot say these things and now he hates me. The whole thing is a mess but I want to know what to do next? Can I change my statement? Can what I said really make a difference whn it comes to court? He was already on bail for violent disorder and ABH?
You only have his word that the police told him that he wasn't welcome at your house. They would not have told him that unless you had stated it in their presence.
