What do 16 year olds drink?
45 Answers
My son is 16 this w/e and he's having a party at home. The boys will be drinking beer (in moderation) but what can I give the girls (most of which are only 15) which will get them in the mood without getting drunk. Dont want to get alcopops or vodka shots - is there a punch that I could give them to make them get a bit silly and think they have loads to drink without actually doing so?

Stay well away from booze of any kind. Before you know it, however well intentioned you are, you are going to end up with trollied teens throwing up and then the wrath of their parents- it's just not worth it!
Just stick to Coke (the drink variety!), it may be dull but at least it's safe. How about a non alcoholic fruit punch for the girly girls of the group?

The law states:
"It is legal for anyone over 5 to drink alcohol. The restrictions apply to purchasing (under 18) and location - on licensed premises or in alcohol exclusion zones.
Police have powers to confiscate alcohol from under 18's drinking in public spaces (e.g. in the street or in parks)."
I pesonally agree with Albaqwerty that it is the way the question is worded about 'getting in the mood'. As long as there is a responsible adult around and the amount and type of drink is limited I see no harm in beer for the boys and a weak punch for the girls. It's best for them to be allowed to drink responsibly than be treated like little kids and then suddenly be expected to handle alcohol when they reach a magic age of 18.
