Is it worth having a Blog?
5 Answers
I have now discovered how to start a Blog.
I know I can send my friends and family a link to it (and to some search engines it seems).
My question is,what do I get out of it,and is it worth having?

Well a blog is really an online diary.
People tend to use it to document some event or other in their lives (maybe planning a wedding or other major event) or if they are say a photographer then telling people about recent pictures they have taken, things like that.
So it depends what you have got happening in your life that is worth telling people about....

If you are planning a round the world trip, or planning to climb mount everest, it could be very interesting.
If it consists of "woke up, went shopping, went to the pub, got drunk" and little else then one would say it is NOT very interesting (I am not saying you are like that, it is just an example).
So if you have a lot to say, go for it.

Here is an example of an interesting blog. It is for a real World War 1 soldier.

He wrote many letters home, so the person writing the blog publishes his letters 90 years after they were originally written (1917 relates to 2007 and so on).

But not "Opened a new Bank account at the Birmingham branch of HSBC today - got my new account number which was etc etc"
Seriously, if you do , look out for who can access it and how much personal data you give away. Too much and people can track you down on an internest search and then start collecting bits of data from various places to put together a fairly full profile of you......
